Atlanta Fire Department
Emergency Dial "911"
Non-Emergency 903-796-2303
The Atlanta Fire Department is a full service organization providing both fire protection as well as advanced life support
paramedic ambulance services. Each firefighter is extremely well trained – all are basic emergency medical technicians
and most of our fire officers are certified paramedics.
The Fire Department is led by Chief Robin Betts – rbetts@atlantatexas.org.. Chief Betts
is committed to proactive service for the community by continually requiring full paramedic certifications for
all recruits. Eventually this will lead to every firefighter being dually certified as a paramedic. The result
will be more lives saved in Atlanta.
While the department's main focus is certainly centered on the corporate limits of Atlanta, mutual aid service
agreements are in place within a 125 square mile area. These agreements work both ways as evidenced by the
large mutual response we had when Anthony Forest Products caught fire.
Each year the department will respond to nearly 900 ambulance calls for service and nearly 430 fire calls. When
they’re not in emergency mode, the department conducts 35 fire safety classes each year, performs nearly
730 fire safety inspections annually, and issues over 2,300 burning permits.
